RACHEL ROY.

Rachel Roy 2011 Spring Collection
Wow, how do I start to explain how cool Rachel Roy is?... First, she's sophisticated, classic, and inventive. Second, she employs women in Africa who make beaded bracelets and clutches, so that they can gain their own independence and freedom through creating beautiful pieces. Third, Rachel created and sells a "Kindess is always Fashionable" tote in order to raise money for flood survivors/victims in Pakistan (all proceeds going directly to UNICEF).  Lastly, Rachel Roy designs beautiful silhouettes and is currently one of the most inspiring American fashion designers.  Rachel debuted her collection in 2005 and has since grown to 4 full collections per year. The best part about her designs are that they are mostly day to evening and provide a fun color palette. Her clothes are becoming more accessible as her collections grow, which makes me and the rest of the world very happy.  At first, Rachel's clothes were only sold in specialty stores, but now RACHEL ROY is available at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstom!  Go Rachel!

"In hindsight, my initial love for fashion was about hope and evolving to become the type of woman I wanted to be: strong, confident and feminine. I always loved the idea of dressing up--my wardrobe and how I present myself reflecting how I feel on the inside. That is what I do for other people now. I give women the means to express themselves and be who they are and who they aspire to be, and I think there is a real beauty in this."

La La Land.

I've been accepted into the Merchandise Marketing Program at FIDM in LA!! If I take the journey down the yellow brick road to La La Land, this page shows the day to day necessities that I will be sporting/bringing to class.

...who doesn't love hypothetical fashion situations?

If I were to play princess for a day...

I would choose to wear Monique Lhullier's Stardust Embroidered 3/4 sleeve gown from her Ready to Wear, Spring 2011 collection.
Gown via Monique Lhullier website.
Monique Lhullier's inspiration for this collection came to her while dreaming of a beautiful girl running in the Garden of Eden.  The sparkling sequins on the gown represent the sun gleaming off of the dress (from Monique's dream) and when combined with the feminine, playful fabrics makes a simply divine creation.  Pair this dress with the Dior rose ring below and I'm in heaven.

What would you wear?

Sheer shirts to skirts.

If you know me, then you know that I have a mild obsession with sheer shirts.  They're so versatile - you can wear a sheer shirt with jeans and boots, pants and heels, or a skirt and look classic and feminine at any time of the day to any occasion. SO, I am very excited to announce that sheer pants and maxi skirts are making their way into this winter and spring 2011's trend report.  I'd like to thank Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for sporting this look back in February because now it's our turn (and when I say our I mean the rest of us girls on earth) to sport this sexy yet conservative look.

Also, I strongly suggest checking out Dolce and Gabbana's Winter 2011 runway show below.  The show is full of maxi sheer skirts, fur, and nomadic sweaters creating a winter wonderland of perfection.
