La La Land.

I've been accepted into the Merchandise Marketing Program at FIDM in LA!! If I take the journey down the yellow brick road to La La Land, this page shows the day to day necessities that I will be sporting/bringing to class.

...who doesn't love hypothetical fashion situations?

If I were to play princess for a day...

I would choose to wear Monique Lhullier's Stardust Embroidered 3/4 sleeve gown from her Ready to Wear, Spring 2011 collection.
Gown via Monique Lhullier website.
Monique Lhullier's inspiration for this collection came to her while dreaming of a beautiful girl running in the Garden of Eden.  The sparkling sequins on the gown represent the sun gleaming off of the dress (from Monique's dream) and when combined with the feminine, playful fabrics makes a simply divine creation.  Pair this dress with the Dior rose ring below and I'm in heaven.

What would you wear?

Sheer shirts to skirts.

If you know me, then you know that I have a mild obsession with sheer shirts.  They're so versatile - you can wear a sheer shirt with jeans and boots, pants and heels, or a skirt and look classic and feminine at any time of the day to any occasion. SO, I am very excited to announce that sheer pants and maxi skirts are making their way into this winter and spring 2011's trend report.  I'd like to thank Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for sporting this look back in February because now it's our turn (and when I say our I mean the rest of us girls on earth) to sport this sexy yet conservative look.

Also, I strongly suggest checking out Dolce and Gabbana's Winter 2011 runway show below.  The show is full of maxi sheer skirts, fur, and nomadic sweaters creating a winter wonderland of perfection.

Add Fur = Instantly Fabulous.

Fur Coat via Shopbop.com
If you're looking to glam up your wardrobe this winter, then all you need to do is purchase a fur vest, coat, or boots.  Although this trend came out last winter, girls everywhere have been looking fabulous from running errands to painting the town red by simply adding fur.  Whether its real, faux, shaggy, sleek, collared, shrug or long, you will stay warm and look like a million bucks.

Faux fur Jacket via Shopbop.com
I absolutely love this jacket by Loeffler Randall because it combines two of this winter's trends, fur and the military coat.  The drawstring waist adds shape and the canvas gives a relaxed feel, perfect for day wear. Oh, and did I mention it's on sale on Shopbop.com? Amazeballs.

Merchant to designer, Antonio Marras.

Antonio Marras grew up in his father's fabric store and lists himself as a merchant on his professional card, but recently the romantic designer has been making his mark in Milan as "poetic."   Antonio designs feminine clothing, which is drawing international attention because of his ability to combine vintage pieces and patterns with a modern flair.  Antonio has been noted as drawing his inspiration from love films, such as Bright Star for his Spring 2011 collection and uses his childhood memoirs, interpreting his past through his present day vision making each piece unique.  The culmination of his masterful pieces create a beautiful story that is shown through the stitching of his clothing.

10 Holiday dresses for under $100! (Winter 2010)

Since Thanksgiving is next week and Christmas is right around the corner, I thought it was time that I should start planning what I'm wearing to my holiday parties.  Most of us rush out mid-week or most commonly, the night before the event to buy something, sometimes anything... but this time I am going to be prepared and frugal all at the same time.  Here are 10 dresses that I put together for under $100 to keep your costs low but still look great whether it's a casual get together or flirty and fun with friends.

BB Dakota dress found on Shopbop.com for only $80.

Love the back on this dress. A great LBD for a holiday party or girls night out.

Again, a BB Dakota dress on ShopBop.com for $80.

Big fan of the color and design. Looks as though it is a 2 piece but is one full dress that flatters the legs and hides any midsection holiday weight. Conservative, but will still turn heads.

Aqua dress on Bloomingdales.com for $88.00

A girl will always need at least one flowy dress that is easy to dance and mingle in, no matter what season it is.

Aqua dress on Bloomingdales.com for $83.00.

Love, love, love the color of this dress.  This one shoulder blue dress will instantly draw attention when in a crowd.  All you need is a funky cuff bracelet and you're ready to go.

Corset dress on H&M website for 19.95!!

Gorgeous dress for next to nothing.  This is a must have.

Wyatt dress found on BlueFly.com for $94.00.

Very simple and flattering.  The ruching sweeps across the mid section to hide any extra L B's gained over the holidays. Full sleeve for those of us who freeze our butts off going from party to party.

Strapless silk chiffon dress found on Jcrew.com for only $59.99.

Perfect for a dinner party, simply due to the fact that it won't show a thing below the heart shape and flows all the way to the knee but I know what you're still thinking - it's an early fall dress... just remember, this doesn't mean it can't be used in winter with a cardigan, tights, and booties.

Dress found on Modcloth.com for $52.99.

Titled the"Elegant Speech Dress" on ModCloth's website.  Perfect for those who are hosting because it's easy and flirty.  I would pair with patterned tights and heels or work with fun accessories.

Dress found on Zara for $79.90.

Adorable wool shift dress.  Great for a casual get together and pairing with boots and tights.

Dress found on Zara for only $39.90!!

For all the girls with a small frame, show it off in this tight LBD.  Would not advise wearing this to a dinner.

These are a few of my favorite things, Spring 2011.

After seeing Catherine Malandrino's Spring 2011 collection online, I may have to start building a time travel machine to fast forward through these next few cold months.  Thank god I am two months late on the arrival of this beautiful collection because I would be even more upset if I had discovered these looks in September.  Catherine has been able to combine three of my most favorite things - crochet, woven leather, and silk... what more could a girl ask for?

This is my favorite look of the collection, a white crochet floor length dress - it makes me want to jet set to the south of France and sip delicious mixed drinks by the beach at sunset. Catherine once again makes all things romantic and flattering, just absolutely fabulous.

A ring fit for a princess... or two.

I definitely have chosen the best day to start my blog.
It is official, Kate Middleton has received the most fabulous and well-known engagement ring in the entire world.  As you may have heard, Prince William proposed with Princess Diana's sapphire engagement ring to soon to be wife, Kate Middleton of Berkshire, England. Not only is it über romantic to inherit your fiancé's most prized family heirloom, but she will become a princess and live with a rock fiscally equal (£250,000) to a moderate sized home on her finger.  However, the best part behind the story of the ring is that Prince William wanted his mother to be a part of the occasion by passing it on to his gorg fiancée.

The central stone is an 18 carat oval sapphire (stunning) with clustering diamonds set in white gold.  Princess Diana hand picked this ring for herself because she thought it was "simply beautiful." Kate chose to wear an amazing blue dress that matched the ring for the engagement announcement held today. One lucky lady.
